- I use a ZIP with the same controller, and have had no problems whatsoever. It
- ran up 100% first time and hasn't missed a beat yet.

- Maybe you do have a faulty SCSI cable.

- BTW, it is quite common for an unterminated SCSI cable (such as one plugged in
- but going nowhere..) to hang a SCSI bus. Depending on the controller,
- (especially GVP's!) SCSI cards are VERY particular about the lines they work
- into, due to internal reflections on the unterminated or incorrectly
- terminated cables etc.

- PS I have an identical problem to yours but with an NEC CDR-35 CD-ROM drive.
- Works fine on any machine except the Ami!! Might be that the GVP is
- excessively timing sensitive and that your particular ZIP/my NEC are just
- outside its particularly tiny tolerance. Murphy's Law I guess....
